Electronic Parts Catalog and Labor Guides
Overview
If you are in the automotive service business, you should be aware that Protractor software was specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with Activant's ePartExpert electronic parts catalog and labor guides.
The electronic parts catalog provides timely, accurate access to more than 3100 automotive aftermarket product lines and more than 2.8 million part numbers.
The labor estimating database provides quick and easy access to labor times based on the Mitchell Repair Labor Estimating Guide.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions to Protractor's electronic parts catalog and labor guides service is entirely optional, but its a great fit for most automotive service businesses.
Because Protractor hosts the catalog databases on it's own remote database servers, you never need to worry about data updates - Protractor keeps the data current with links directly to Activant.
Description
Protractor software provides two ways for subscribers to access the parts catalog and labor guides - manually or automatically. Both methods are accessed from Protractor itself - you don't need a second software application.
To do a manual lookup, you simply need to select the vehicle's year, make, model and engine data from pop-up lists, then drill down to your application through the Category, Group and Description pop-ups.
To enable automatic part number & labor time lookups during invoice generation, Protractor ensures that all your customers' vehicle file data conforms to the vehicle access codes required by the catalog. For you, this is simply a matter of selecting vehicle information from pop-ups when adding or updating a vehicle record.
The Service Packages which are shipped with Protractor contain links to the catalog data which ensure
accurate part number and labor time lookups during invoice generation. If you author your own Service
Packages, you may easily create these links yourself.
