All the information you keep about a contact is maintained on a Contact Card.
In the software, every contact is either a Business contact, or a Home contact. The only difference is that Business contacts are filed alphabetically by company name, whereas Home contacts are filed alphabetically by the individual's last name.
In example below of a Home Contact, the contact will appear in lists of contacts (such as the Contact Manager's tree view) alphabetically by the File As name - 'Campbell, Sarah'.
In the example of a Business Contact below, the contact will appear in lists of contacts alphabetically by the company name - 'Abbotsford Auto Wrecking Ltd.'
Note that in this example, the name below the Company Name is the name of the owner of the company. Searching for 'George Crawford' using the software search tools would return this record.
Enterprise contacts are useful in all versions of the software. An enterprise contact will exist at the enterprise level of the company structure providing these common benefits:
In a single location operation, an enterprise contact can be given security access to the Setup Manager.
In a multi-location operation, an enterprise contact can be given security access to division and / or enterprise functions such as being able to log into other locations.
Setting a service advisor to an enterprise contact would allow them to be a service advisor in all locations or within a division.
Setting a customer or supplier to an enterprise contact would allow the entire enterprise to own the contact. This can be useful for an enterprise wide fleet account or a supplier that several locations may purchase from. However, this is not a requirement for consolidate functionality and we recommend discussing your specific needs with your representative in determining what would work best in your situation.
