Both Maintenance Plan Templates and Location Maintenance Plans are authored and maintained using the same Update Maintenance Plan dialog.
Maintenance Plans consist of:
the Service Categories (SCs),
the Pinpoint Inspections (PPIs), and
the Service Packages (SPs)…
where scheduled service is due. These lines are maintained on the Detail Lines tab of the Maintenance Plan dialog.
The Maintenance Plan Detail Lines Tab is shown here:
Follow these steps to author a new Maintenance Plan, or update an existing one:

NOTE 1: You may define Maintenance Plans using Service Categories only. If you do, you must define minimum service intervals for the Service Category line. If a Service Category line is added with no SPs or PPIs, any work done in the Service Category will satisfy the Maintenance Plan for the purposes of Service Forecasting. However if SPs and / or PPIs are added to an SC, you must not define service intervals for the SC header.
NOTE 2: Only template service packages and pin-point inspections may be added to maintenance plans. Services and inspections that are unique to the location can not be placed on maintenance plans.
Tip: If a service that you plan to use on a maintenance plan has several variations, consider this; you want to put a lube, oil and filter on a maintenance plan but you would like to have separate packages for 5W30, 10W30 and Synthetics. Rather than have to create a maintenance plan for each type of oil change - do this. Have one master oil change package template. In the location manager, import the template, rename it to define the package and customize it for 5W30 oil. Import the same template into the location manager and rename it to define the 10W30 package. Do the same for all other oil change packages. The maintenance plan uses the template package so any service package used that is linked or created from the template will satisfy the service being performed.
