The Work Order Designer

To Access the Work Order Designer:

  1. Select Tools | Location | Work Order Designer

You use the Work Order Designer to customize the overall design of your Work Order documents, so that they reflect your company image. You can set foreground and background colors, or use pre-defined color combinations. You can specify text that you want to display on the work order, such as your company name and address, and your company slogan.

NOTE: The Work Order Designer dialog is a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) dialog. That means that as you change design parameters, you can see the affect of your changes interactively on the top of the form. You can also use the Print Preview to see it on paper.

Pre-Printed Work Order Documents

You may use pre-printed Work Order Documents. Your pre-printed paper must, or course, meet the software's specifications. Pre-printed paper is very similar to ordering company letterhead from a commercial printing company.

Black and White Printers

If you use computer printers incapable of printing colors, you will need to experiment with the Work Order designer and your printer to get the desired results. Some black and white printers do a great job of printing shades of grey.

Use the toolbar's Print Preview tool to see how your documents will look.

If you do not use pre-printed work order forms, you can specify the company information to be printed on the Work Order documents. Be sure to include:

To change the default font sizes for the Company, Slogan, Title, or Footer, overstrike the default values.

CAUTION: Be certain not to use white as a foreground color! And be certain not to use the same (or similar foreground and background colors. These errors, of course, will make text seem to disappear on your Work Order documents.

Note: Each copy of the work order, technician instructions, technician inspections, credit slip, invoice, will have the document number and page number as the very last line. Make sure your margin settings have enough space to accommodate them.
