Tools

There are a number of reasons one can have connectivity issues. The servers have a long standing history (since 2001) of uptime. With very few exceptions over the years they have always been available for connection.

Most connectivity issues are either at the user end or somewhere in between. When there is an connectivity issue somewhere in the cloud at major network junction, traffic gets rerouted on another route. Similar to vehicle traffic, when there is congestion or road closures, traffic needs to take an alternate route. The alternate route may not be as efficient and slower. This can happen on the internet highway as well but it is usually temporary in nature.

Most connectivity issues are local at the user end. As convenient as wireless technology is, it is often the most susceptible to interruption through interference. Hard wired connections are more reliable and should be use when possible. Problems on the device being used can also play a role. Network hardware, software (especially security software and fire walls), and other tasks running that are competing for the internet bandwidth on the device. Then there is the modems, routers, and switches that connect you to your local internet service provider.

All of the local connectivity variables should be check first, and can be done using the tools above, before assuming the problem is outside of your own network and internet service provider.
