As the name suggests, Vital Signs provides a powerful snap shot of the business' health and performance. Vital Signs can be run using a number of parameters. These parameters include performance by profit center and service category, technicians, or service advisors. Vital Signs can also be run for any date range.
Click on the View menu.
Select Location Vital Signs or Division Vital Signs or Enterprise Vital Signs depending on your requirements.
Depending on your version of the software, there can be up to 3 levels of vital signs. The Standard Edition (SE) and Franchise Edition (FE) have Location Vital Signs. The Enterprise Edition (EE) has Location Vital Signs for each location, Division Vital Signs to analyze a division's performance, and Enterprise Vital Signs to analyze the enterprise as a whole.
Click the Parameters button.
On the Period tab, set the date range using one of the predefined options or a customer period.
If you selected a customer period, click the Start Date and End Date buttons to set your date range.
On the Report By tab select whether to run Vital Signs by Profit Center and Service Categories, Technician, or Service Advisor.
On the Display tab select whether or not to show the graph.
Service Categories - The service categories column holds the title or heading for each row of data. The first being the total summary for the entire location. Each profit center in the location will be in bold with all the service categories below it. Each profit center and service category will comprise of a row of data.
Parts $ - The total parts sales in dollars pertaining to each row of data.
Labor $ - The total labor sales in dollars pertaining to each row of data.
% - The labor mix as a percentage pertaining to each row of data. The labor mix is the percentage of labor sales in the total sales of parts and labor combined.
Parts Cost - The total cost of parts pertaining to each row of data.
Labor Cost - The total cost of labor pertaining to each row of data. Labor cost is driven by the cost per hour billed assigned to technicians in Employee Payroll Details. It is also driven by the cost of outside labor.
GP $ - The total gross profit dollars pertaining to each row of data.
GP % - The total gross profit percentage pertaining to each row of data.
Parts % - The total gross profit percentage on parts pertaining to each row of data.
Mix - The sales mix as a percentage pertaining to each row of data. The sales mix is the percentage of the row's sales in the total sales of all categories.
Total - Total sales dollars pertaining to each row of data.
Tip: The total sales dollars for the entire location includes all other charges.
Technician - The technician column holds the title or heading for each row of data. The first being the total summary for the entire location. Each technician and outside labor supplier will be listed below it. If you click the + beside the technician's name you will see they work broken out by Profit Center and Service Category.
Parts $ - The total parts sales in dollars pertaining to each row of data.
Labor $ - The total labor sales in dollars pertaining to each row of data.
% - The labor mix as a percentage pertaining to each row of data. The labor mix is the percentage of labor sales in the total sales of parts and labor combined.

Service Advisor - The service advisor column holds the title or heading for each row of data. The first being the total summary for the entire location. Each service advisor will be listed below it. If you click the + beside the advisor's name you will see they work broken out by Profit Center and Service Category.
Parts $ - The total parts sales in dollars pertaining to each row of data.

Other Charges Reported As A Liability - Provides the total for each other charge that has been declared a liability.
Other Charges Reported As Revenue - Provides the total for each other charge that has been declared as revenue.

Starting Invoice Number - The first invoice number for the date range specified.
Ending Invoice Number - The last invoice number for the date range specified.
Total Number of Invoices - The total number of invoices processed. This number does not include credit slips.
Average Invoice Value - The average invoice value including other charges declared as revenue.
The enterprise and division vital signs have two views:
This view provides the same detail as the location vital signs but for all locations within the division or enterprise. Each location can be expanded to view the individual location vital signs. In the enterprise vital signs each division is grouped and totalled.
This view provides summary detail similar to the vital signs but for a service category of choice. This allows you to compare the performance of each location against each other for a particular service category.
